BryAnime reviews the novelization of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

Last year I watched the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie, and upon realizing that it was the movie that all other anime movies will be judged against from now on, I decided that it would be fun to read the book. While the book was not nearly as good as the movie (Some people say the book is always better than the movie, I say HELL NO) it managed to be an entertaining read.

Since this book is basically gibberish if you aren't familiar with the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series, I'll just assume that your familiar with it. If you aren't familiar with it, go watch some episodes, read the books, or go read a review more relevant to your interests.

Anyhoo, this book starts with Kyon accepting that his high school life is going to be filled with wacky adventures, and that is his new norm. Until THAT day, when he wakes up to realize that, by some weird occurrence the entire world has gone bonkers. He wakes up to realize that all the insanity with time travelers, aliens espers, and dimensional shifts is gone, and that he is stuck living a normal life. Yes, he got exactly what he's been wanting since the beginning of the series.

In this “normal” life, Kyon notices that the SOS brigade hasn't been formed, and that Haruhi and Ikutski have gone missing. Mikuru is a regular upper-classman, and Yuki has become the most useless person in the world, devoid of any of her universe altering abilities. This leaves Kyon on his own to figure out what exactly what went wrong, and make an attempt at fixing it.

The book sends Kyon on an exiting journey where everything he believes in is put to the test, and where he must use all of his experience putting up with the SOS brigade's madness to put the reigns of the universe back into the hands of a high-school girl. A bit of the suspense was lost, since I saw the movie, and knew what the big revelation at the end was going to be. It's a big twist, and I wish more people in my area knew it so I can argue about the tenants of Haruhiism without blowing the movie's plot.

The writing is pretty straightfoward, is pretty easy to understand, and doesn't take too much out of the reader. It flows pretty quickly, and doesn't dwell on anything too much, unlike Kyon who loves internal monologing. It does expect that you have an in-depth knowledge of the events of the Haruhi universe, so don't pick this up as your introduction.

There were a few differences from the movie, although only one of them affects the plot significantly. The details about the ending are much more fleshed out, leaving less ambiguity about what was going on. The changed perspective causes certain details to get more attention, while downplaying things that were more noticeable in the movie (in the book, Kyon mentions Yuki looks cute. In the movie we get to see every adorable little quirk of her alternate universe self) The movie definitely took the material presented here and expanded on it, making a much more entertaining product. It is much easier to read the book while on the bus though, so it has that factor over the movie.

I'd suggest getting the DVD of the movie when it comes out, or get the book if you wanna know beforehand, and need a Haruhi fix.

The Big Review: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2

<-This has nothing to do with this season at all. I just like gothic lolita a lot. 

Ugh, this will definitely go down as the low point in Haruhi’s history. I’d say they couldn’t do worse if they tried, but the problem is I know they TRIED to do a bad job with this. (more on that later) I’m going to assume you’ve seen the first season of this series and are familiar with the characters because this one is not going to attract any new fans.

This season consists of approximately 3 arcs, two of which are good, and one that is so horrible that somebody needs to be fired for green lighting it. The season starts out nicely with an episode where Kyon winds up being sent into the past in order assist Haruhi in a prank she pulled at the school 3 years ago, which for some reason affects the time space continuum in a way that Mikuru (from the future) approves of. This is a nice episode that shows promise for the season, and had me exited for the next ones…

I highly recommend you just watch the first episode (Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody) then go watch the movie, since it discusses critical plot points in the movie. When people discuss the rest of the season, I suggest you cover your ears and go “LALALALALA I’M NOT LISTENING” until they shut up.

For some strange reason, the studio decided that they would blow most of the budget on this, by taking the time to re-animate every episode with extraneous detail, even thought it’s the same plot and events over and over.

Anyway, after the studio established that they have enough money to smoke their top grade weed in rolled up hundred dollar bills, (No really, think of the animation costs, production costs, and network backlash… that took serious spine to pull off) they get to a few episodes regarding the creation of the movie shown during the first episode. The first couple of these are boring as hell and not much happens. The last three have some back stage drama and philosophical lectures that flesh out some characters. Some of this is quite interesting to watch, and almost made up for the rest of the season. Almost. The plot doesn’t get advanced that much though. Overall, there are about 4 good episodes in this season, making it an overall disappointment.

Oh yeah, I should probably mention that the ending and opening songs for this season pale before the ones in the first season. I’m probably biased because I actually know how to do the Hare Hare Yukai, but it’s a noticeable downgrade. Thankfully, they wised up and used “Bouken Desho Desho” for the opening credits to the movie. Animation quality is very high throughout this season, even during episodes that really don’t deserve it.

Should you watch this season? No, probably not. If you really insist, watch the first episode and the last five, and if you’re really hardcore, the first and last episodes of Endless Eight. The only good part about this season was that it laid some groundwork for the movie…

Speaking of which, the movie manages to prove that the people behind this project still have their artistic talent that made the first season good, they were just holding out on us this season.

Anime in Focus: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2 episode 14

<- The last episode of a season is always a great time to introduce a talking cat

Well, we end this season of Haruhi by having the characters discuss philosophy and the finishing touches on that movie plot that’s been going for the last few episodes.

This episode starts with Haruhi picking up a cat to be Yuki’s familiar in the movie project the SOS brigade is working on. Unfortunately, Haruhi’s powers cause the cat to talk, leading the cat to engage in conversations about philosophy, kind of like Brian from Family Guy. It’s rather interesting as we attempt to see Kyon try to convince the cat that it’s special that he can talk, and that he isn’t just creating an illusion of language.

Like a lot of philosophical lectures, neither side is really convinced, so they just wander off and buy cat food. Kyon explains to the cat that cats say “meow” and wonders home. We then learn that Mikuru’s and Nagato’s factions both hold theories that oppose Itsuki’s, creating a aura of tension among the SOS brigade members. Furthermore, Itsuki explains that the movie is creating issues with the space time continuum, causing reality and fiction to meld. This leads to Itsuki suggesting that they do something to ensure that Haruhi KNOWS that this is a movie, and prevent her from subconsciously causing the movie’s reality to meld with the real world.

Then there’s a montage of the character’s finishing off the movie, which is the least exiting part of the episode. The interesting part about this ep. is that if you pay attention to Kyon’s mannerisms you’ll notice he doesn’t really seem to care about the reality warping as much as everybody else. While everybody else is panicking, he seems to just take everything as it happens, not seeming to care, as long as Haruhi lays off of Mikuru. This is really interesting, as the mindset is what leads into the movie’s plot, where we see some actual growth in Kyon’s character.

Although a good episode, this is a very weak climax to a weak season. If more episodes are produced, I certainly hope their better than this seasons. If I hear anything about it, I’ll report it here as soon as possible.

Hey, this episode managed to recapture a bit of the former season’s glory! If only I didn’t have to drudge through about 10 of the series worst episodes to get to it, I might have had a bit more faith in the series at this point.

This episode continues the arc about making the movie from the first episode of the first season, but rather than focus on the actual filming, (which is kinda boring, like episodes 10 and 11) it instead focuses on the behind the scenes drama, developing the cast a bit.

In this episode, we start by seeing the filming of the scene where Yuki sends a bunch of side characters to attack Mikuru. This is going well until Mikuru starts shooting lasers out of her eyes again, and we get a lovely image of Yuki taking measures to stop it. See above picture for details…. You done? Got that as ingrained in your memory as I do? Ahh yeah. ANYWAY, things get a bit awkward as Haruhi demands that the evil zombie whatever henchmen need to throw Mikuru in the lake. This looks fine on film, but the cast then realizes that this lake is probably polluted as hell. Nobody seems to mention the damage it could do to the battle waitress outfit, but nobody seems to care about that sort of thing.

The second part of the episode takes place at Tsuruya’s house, where they finish filming for the day. This is the part where Koizumi’s character takes Mikuru’s character to his house for some reason. While they are at the house, Haruhi has Tsuruya lace Mikuru’s drink with liquor, in order to enhance Mikuru’s acting skills. Unfortunately, Mikuru can’t hold her alcohol very good at all, which leads to her almost passing out. Haruhi gets pissed about this, and starts yelling at Mikuru.

Then finally, we see the moment I’ve been waiting for since about 3 episodes into the first season. Kyon gets fed up with Haruhi treating Mikuru like her plaything, gets his fist ready, tells Haruhi she’s an annoying jerk, and gets ready to whack her… But then Koizumi intervenes, and stops Kyon from smacking Haruhi. If this was back in my days of Kyon x Mikuru shipping, I’d be so exited about this. However, the movie converted me to Kyon x Yuki. Still, I was quite exited to see Kyon finally stick up for Mikuru.

Oh yeah, for the rest of the episode, things are a bit awkward between the brigade members, for obvious reasons. Koizumi gives out a speech about the nature of the universe to Kyon, and discusses his opinions on opposing Haruhi with Kyon, and we get a bit on the plot.

Episode manages to be very solid. I wish more of the second season was like this. While I thought the music felt a bit off in some scenes (Do they only have one dramatic track?) for in some parts, the music didn’t seem to suit the gravity of the situation, particularly in a segment at the lake. Thankfully, the fleshing out of the characters made up for this flaw. Believe it or not, I’m actually EXITED about the next episode, which hasn’t happened since the first episode of this season.

 <-In this episode, we get a behind the scenes look at the making of the Mikuru beam. Also, a mind boggling look at the type of contact lenses Anime characters wear

Well, after a bit of a hiatus on this series, I’ve decided to come back and finish what I’ve started. This leads us to episode 12 of the second season, which continues right where the previous episode left us. While I do enjoy nice structured series with a clear start and end point, I did not get into Haruhi because of it. Instead, I got into it because of the chaotic pacing. However, this episode manages to be much better than the previous two, revealing more about the universe the characters live in, and the very weak principals that hold reality together.

This episode contains several highlights, such as the part where Kyon almost falcon punches Haruhi, just like we’ve always wanted to see him do. This was brought up because Haruhi was pushing Mikuru a bit too hard, with her expecting her to shoot laser beams out of her eyes and all. Unfortunately, due to Haruhi’s control over the nature of reality, Mikuru does start firing laser beams out of her eyes, nearly killing everybody.

This leads to a scene where Yuki winds up tackling Mikuru and stealing her contact lens, which Haruhi believed was giving her the power to shoot lazers. This didn’t seem eventful, until they actually SHOWED the contact lens, (see right) and anybody could tell you that thing would NOT fit in Mikuru’s eye. (see above for comparison of Mikuru’s finger to Mikuru’s eye? Now then, if this lens is smaller than Yuki’s finger, there’s no way that would work) Anyway, the rest of the episode is spent explaining that fiasco, leading Itsuki to comment on Yuki being much less social than all of the other units like her. Unfortunately, he doesn’t elaborate on these other units, or what his organization believes they do.

Overall, this episode manages to be pretty good, especially since stuff happens, unlike a lot of the other episodes in this season. It should be noted that there are a lot of scenes where Mikuru looks absolutely adorable, and deliciously moe packed. It makes me a little bit more exited about watching the rest of this season.

Dissappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya hits LA. Preview and info

Well, although I have already seen and reviewed the Haruhi movie, it seems like I haven’t reminded enough people to see it yet. Hence, it is imperative that everybody know that the movie will be showing in a theater in LA on June 24^th (One week before anime expo) with tickets on sale now, here

And will have some of the voice actors from the series making appearances, such as Stephanie Sheh, the voice of Mikuru Asahina. Will she be wearing the bunny girl outfit? Who knows?

Furthermore, goodies will be given away, such as free books and manga, if you don’t have all the Haruhi stuff already. Furthermore, there will be incentives for Haruhi cosplayers to show up, meaning even if you don’t have a Haruhi costume or are male, there will be hot Haruhi cosplayers there. Awesome.

Not enough incentive to go? There will be a live performance by singer Christina Vee, along with a raffle by Crunchyroll to give away free subscriptions to their anime streaming site.

This event is going to be awesome, free stuff will be available to people who show up on time, and maybe I forgot the most important part! The movie is awesome. It’s like the Haruhi equivalent to Trust and Betrayal, and contains all the awesomeness that the second season lacked. There’s a trailer here….

So, if you happen to be in Southern California, I highly suggest that you make your way to LA on Thursday, June 24^th in order to see this. Not to mention

Although the trailer does not really do the movie justice. No, the only real way to do this movie justice is to actually sit down and watch the thing. Not to mention, the trailer leaves out most of the plot, which is a delicious alternate universe where Kyon goes on a journey of self-realization, and realizes why he puts up with Haruhi's crap. We get to see what the world would look like if Haruhi wasn't screwing around with the nature of reality every two seconds. Furthermore, we find out what everybody would do if Haruhi had no superpowers.The overall movie winds up being as good s the better episodes, but stretched to three hours, without dragging. Furthermore, it acually feels like a movie, rather than an extended episode.  It’s three hours of Haruhi goodness, you got nothing better to do, why not go see it?

We must make this movie sell more than Avatar! I don’t care if its impossible, we have to try!

Furthermore, if you don't go, you'll make Yuki cry. Does anybody want that? No? I didn't think so.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoshitsu) REVIEW

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is to awesome as Endless eight is to ****ing stupid

 

Well, upon realizing that this movie might be the anime equivalent to sliced bread, I decided not posting a review for it on my site would just be silly.

I realize that a couple days ago, I said I was resigning from the Eastern Orthodox Church of Haruhi Suzumiya, but after seeing this movie, my faith hath been restored!

Let’s see, where do I even start talking about this?

Plot Synopsis: Kyon is going through another day in his mundane and boring life in the SOS brigade, where he does the bidding of the local overdiety, Haruhi Suzumiya. Haruhi has dictated that the SOS brigade will be holding a Christmas party and blah blah blah, the first 20 minutes or so of the movie are kinda slow. But, to offer a counter statement, the first 20 minutes or so of 2009’s Star Trek were boring, so we can live with that. Beginning part just hammers in how everything is normal.

Until 3 days later, when Kyon is walking to school, and realizes that something is off…

He goes to school, and realizes that Huruhi has gone missing, and that nobody even knows who she is. He wonders about her empty seat in the classroom, until the person who belongs there shows up, who is none other than…. Ryoko Asakura

 DUN DUN DUN!

Strangely, none of the supernatural occurrences that normally occur in this series seem to be happening, He asks some of the other Brigade members, and learns that they have no idea what he is talking about, and that he sounds like he’s gone crazy.

Throughout the move, Kyon must go on a journey to find out what has happened to the universe, and attempt to bring it back, but this time he can’t go off and rely on Yuki or Koizumi for help…

MY OPINIONS: This movie manages to break a lot of conventions that most movie adaptations of an anime series go through. Most movies just make a 2 hour long monster of the week plot. Other movies decide to just cram the whole series into two hours. Not this one. This one decides to make a 3 hour epic (okay, 2 and a half) about Kyon’s journey through several universes where he learns more about himself, realizes why he does what he does, and what would happen if he finally got his wish and was allowed to live a normal life. It has twists, turns, and keeps you guessing. Characters come out feeling more fleshed out.

BUT NO, Kyoto animation couldn’t just let it end there. They have to give Yuki’s fans a boatload of stuff too. We get to see what she would act like if she wasn’t some messenger from the universal data being… thingy. Amazingly, Yuki manages to provide more moe than freaking MIKURU in this movie! Mind blowing, I know. Some fans might complain about the lack of Haruhi in this movie, but I find that her lacking presence forced us to see what Kyon would do if Haruhi stopped messing up his normal life. He most certainly loses the things he complains about, which is why we love him.

ASSUMPTIONS: Well, if you want to watch this, you need to have seen the first season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and the first episode of the second season (endless 8 is mentioned, but you really shouldn’t watch that) Oh yeah, if you didn’t like the first season, you probably won’t like this.

Afterthoughts: You should definitely see this, if you’re a fan of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. No exceptions. I was exited from the moment Bouken Desho Desho started playing. Yuki x Kyon shippers NEED to see this, otherwise they are betraying their ship. I’m now confused about whether to ship Kyon with Mikuru or Yuki. Kyon looks sooo cute with Yuki in this movie though, and there’s that one scene. People who only like the series for Haruhi might be disappointed in her lack of presence, but they should look at the title. Definitely the best movie spinoff of an anime I’ve ever seen.

HOW TO SEE IT: Well, as this blog mentions  there’s going to be a screening in San Fransisco on May 21^st. Let’s see, DVD should be coming soon. There will be screenings in a few other states. Almost garunteed to be shown at Anime Expo.

Well, here we are on episode 3 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2. What?

THERE WAS NO ENDLESS 8 I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!

LALALA I’M NOT LISTENING!

Anyway, this episode continues the plot arc from the previous episode. I remember that one time in the first season where they showed the first part of a two parter, an unrelated episode, then the second part to the two-parter. That was funny. Alas, this episode is more on the making of the movie in episode 0. Here we see the casting choices, where Haruhi ironically casts everybody as… themselves. Of course, nobody wants to tell Haruhi that they really ARE a hidden Esper, a time traveler, and a magical alien. So they all pretend to be high school students pretending to be part of a science fiction show. Then they start filming, which involves Mikuru acting like an idiot, and Haruhi proving herself to be a horrible director. Kyon complains a lot. Small scene of Kyon x Mikuru, but Haruhi gets in the way. We need MOAR Kyon x Mikuru

And they REALLY need to get new material. I mean, this show hasn’t been covering new ground since the first episode of the second season, and has just been riding on the coattails of previous successes. Man, I’m not really sure what to think, the first season was great and all but… eh.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya (manga) volume 1

Contrary to popular belief, I do NOT worship every item the Haruhi has touched, thankyouverymuch

Well, I actually did NOT hit gold while scouring my local library for comic books and manga to review. As the college priest of the Eastern Orthodox church of Haruhi Suzimiya, I was utterly compelled to pick this up. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met.

Sadly, this wasn’t nearly interesting as the anime version of this series. Haruhi just isn’t nearly as interesting panel by panel. I dunno, it just lacks… energy. It doesn’t help that the anime uses a lot of bright colors, which doesn’t translate will into black and white. So, this is Haruhi with much less vibrance. Also, the characters are drawn a bit differently, while not always a problem, they actually look a bit bland. Haruhi’s enthusiasm isn’t something that translates well onto paper, so she just comes off as a sociopath. Ya know, Haruhi could very well be an antagonist if the franchise took a different direction…

Anyway, the plot… It’s kind of a jumbled mess, if you don’t know what’s going on from the anime. Kyon is a high schooler who has resigned himself to a boring life until he meets Haruhi, a wacko who wants to turn this boring ass school into something more interesting, with Aliens, time travelers and espers. Haruhi decides that Kyon gets to be her bitch and makes him do all her dirty work. They then conquer the literature club and assimilate its only member into a society known as… the SOS brigade.

Same plot as the anime, except that fiasco with Ryoko~chan happens before Mikuru joins the Brigade. I highly recommend you watch the anime instead, since the three dimensional medium allows the characters to be fleshed out more. You know, I’ve been a bit disappointed with this franchise lately. Maybe I should check out the novelizations, I heard those are pretty good.

Oh yeah, don’t buy this on Amazon, I heard there was a screw up and this got confused with the light novel. Customers were happier with the product they got though, so I guess they win?

Well, I’m going to go over the second episode of the second season of the melancholy of haruhi Suzimiya…. What do you mean 10^th?

Anyway, The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part I

This episode is about the SOS brigade preparing for the cultural festival that takes place in episode 12 in the first season (You know, the one with Haruhi in the bunny girl outfit singing “God Knows” *drools*) and revolves around preparing to film the movie shown in episode 0. You know, the one with the battle waitress from the future. Anyhoo, the first part of the episode is about Haruhi dictating what everybody else in the club does for the movie. The second part is about Kyon, Mikuru and Haruhi buying stuff for the movie. Not a very interesting episode actually. Mikuru didn’t do much moe stuff, Kyon was a bit funny, but he started coming off as more whiny than usual. Hopefully some interesting stuff starts happening, like in the first ep of the second season. And we need moar Kyon x Mikuru!

After reading about that guy whose girlfriend was ignoring him because of yaoi comics, I felt particularly inspired to ask you’re opinion on a tendency my boyfriend has recently picked up. Recently, he’s been demanding that entertain some of his more…. Perverse interests.

It all started when he was watching this one anime with a weird title. I remember there being an episode about a concert or something, and after watching that, he developed a serious bunny girl fetish. Apparently it reminded him of some girl…. Haruhi Suzi-something or another. He started begging me to wear a bunny girl outfit like the one she wore in that one episode. I didn’t really have that much of a problem with it, since it seemed to be a relatively normal fantasy.

Well, after an awkward night in bed (He accidentally screamed out Haruhi instead of my name… YUCK!) I was praying that he would never request something like that again.

I learned to be careful what I wished for

Apparently my bunny ears turned him on more than the overall appeal of the outfit, and he wanted me to try wearing MORE animal parts in bed. The next thing I know, he’s buying me tails, paws, wolf ears, cat ears, and all kinds of weird stuff. One night I asked him to stop all this animal stuff and let me whip him or something… but that was the biggest mistake I ever made. He started crying like a little puppy dog. Well, I told him he was crying like one. I really shouldn’t have though. It gave him an idea. He realized that he was more turned on the more animal parts he had me wear, and he thought it would be a good idea if he wore animal parts too.

Apparently my attempt at an insult inspired him to buy a dog suit with Velcro…. Well….Nevermind

I think you said the best idea of all in your letter. You should definitely whip him. Tie him up, and whip him until he obeys you’re commands. Either you’ll convince him to be obedient to you’re every whim, or he’ll be weirded out to the point where he understands how you feel. Failing that, I think you might have to take him to the woods to release him

Anime in Focus: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya Season 2 Episode 1

And thus, the second coming of Haruhi came, and all was good

Ah, the world’s fastest growing religion is back in full force. Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about the Church of Haruhi Suzimiya. Yes, this church has been gaining support in many corners of the internet from casual anime fans, to the hardcore people who will traumatize you life. As a high priest of this religion, it is absolutely mandatory that I view the first episode of the second season and report how it’s looking.

Fear not, for this season does not appear to be suffering decay from the first season. Kyon is still his old sarcastic self, Haruhi is still the worlds leading rebel, and Mikuru excudes so much moe that youre head will explode. Alas, we have seen little of Ikutski or Yuki, so a report on their status is unavailable for now. However, KyonxMikuru shippers will be pleased to know that this season starts with a healthy dose of the favorite couple. HaruhixKyon shippers get a little too, but as always, it is not as pronounced. It matters not, however, because Kyon is cuter with Mikuru anyway.

This season starts with a time travel episode, that shows a bit of Haruhi at a younger age, and Kyon causing confusing time paradoxes. Alas, if one wanted coherence, they should go watch another show. For, as all who have seen the first season of this show will realize, this show is nothing, if coherent.

Should you watch this show? Yeah, right now (link) It’s realatively new, so nobody should get into trouble, as it hasn’t even been officially translated yet. But really, enough of my opinion, go watch it before they take it off Youtube. Do I like it? Look at my avatar!

Pixel Lust

Ever since I’ve been blogging, I’ve always felt the need to do a valentine’s special.

Usually I moan and bitch about how stupid this holiday is, But this year, I’m feeling extra optimistic. This year, I’m feeling pretty optimistic. I’m going to focus on the positive aspects of romance, and discuss my opinions on several subjects.

Oh wait, this is me. That means I’m going to discuss my favorite fetishes, and discuss which video game/anime chicks I find HAWT. YAY ^_^

Fetishes

Robot Headgear- Oooh, yes, something that almost always gets me exited. I can’t explain why, but I find big, antennae-like pieces of metal to strangely arousing. I particularly like the ones that look sort of like Elven ears, such as Kos-Mos ver.4. Another good one is Chacamaru(sp) from Negima. They really bring attention to a girl’s face, which is one of the main reasons I find robot chicks hot.

NEXT- You know what I find really hot? A girl with a large, round pair of….. glasses. Yeah, the bigger the better. I like the big ones, Like what Naru from Love Hina wears. Their freakin’ awesome, for some of the same reasons as the robot headgear. Perhaps I’ve grown to like them because they’re associated with bookworm types, which I find cute. Or perhaps it’s because whenever somebody has a makeover, glasses are the first thing to go. Which is stupid. Glasses are very cute, and quite often greatly amplify a cute face, bringing somebody from pretty cute to OMGFREAKINKAWAIII!

Gothic Lolita- Y’know, I’m kinda funny. Most guys seem to get exited the less clothes a girl wears, but I get more exited the more useless accessories and more elaborate an outfit is. Bikini? Woop de doo, I can get that in a sports magazine. Maid outfit with dozens of ribbons and buckles, stockings, lacy gloves, and other useless accessories…? *drools* Well, I guess you can say it’s the thought that counts…. Those outfits take FOREVER to put on. It’s probably a bigger pain in the ass than putting on that cross academy uniform in my closet.

People

Haruhi Suzimiya- Our lord and savior, her will be …. Wait, what am I doing? Gah, Haruhism, you stupid fake religion! Anywhooo…. Haruhi is awesome because she’ll rape you if you disagree. She does what everybody else wishes they were brave enough to do, and if you got a problem with it, TOO BAD! The world will know how to live an awesome life, or suffer the consequences. It’s hard to tell if she’s the protagonist or the antagonist sometimes, but that’s part of the fun with that show

Lenneth Valkyrie-(Valkyrie Profile) IT SHALL BE ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOUL!
Odin’s warrior of justice, sent to slay the undead and evil people among the world., and to gather powerful warriors to fight when Ragnarock comes. Yeah, it’s an RPG where the main character is both female and a warrior (Paladin or archer actually, but whatever) and I like it. Seriously, the main girl in a JRPG is usually a healer, and it gets stale. Now then, a goddess of death gathering the souls of the world’s best warriors? FREAKIN’ AWESOME!

KOS MOS- (Xenosaga) Ah yes, how did I discover my fetish for robot headgear? Why, we can thank Kosy-Wosy for that. She’s wonderful, because of her robotic attitude, which often manages to triumph over any foe. Spock would be very pleased with her. Whether it’s her attitude, her long blue hair, or her ability to solve all problems by shooting things, she makes a wonderful impression on anybody playing Xenosaga.

Chie Satonaka- (Persona 4, Girl in the green jacket in that picture up there) Y’know, actually, this girl’s been driving me crazy. She has like… none of the things I normally find attractive. No glasses, no giant headgear, her hair’s pretty short ( I normally like it long) hell, her most defining feature is a green jacket she always seems to wear. So why do I like her so damn much? Because… her personality’s pretty cute. There, I said it. She’s cute because Persona 4 is a 60+ hour long game where you really get to know the characters. Chie just happened to grow on me. And really, out of all these people mentioned, she’s the one I wanna date the most. All of those weird things she does. The obsession with meat (meat flavored gum….wtf?) Her complex with people. Her jealousy over her best friend. Oh yeah, and she quotes Bruce Lee a lot, so you can tell she’s a keeper. She’s by no means perfect, but she does her best to defend those she cares about. She livens up the party, and often has great ideas (Okay, she usually just suggests that we kick their asses) Have you ever heard an RPG character suggest that we go powerlevel for the sole purpose of beating the shit out of somebody? Her personality’s perfectly believable which is a plus. Her weirdness, her bravery… shes just so… just…. CHIE CHAN! *fanboy squeal*
